Tyres
All tyres should be free from certain cuts and other defects and MUST have a legal minimum tread depth of at least 1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the breadth of the tread and around the entire circumference. It is highly recommended that you replace your tyres before the legal limit is reached as you could compromise safety, if you don’t.
Your first priority should be to ensure that you have good quality tyres to avoid problems. Checking the following will help ensure your tyres are road worthy:
- Check the pressure – Look in vehicle’s manual for the recommended level and when the tyres are cold
- Check the threads – if they are worn, take action as worn threads are illegal
- Check for damage – cracks and cuts are dangerous
